Where To Find A Great Pub In Rome

When my husband and I arrived in Rome we were wondering if we would find a pub in Rome. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there are many. We've checked some out and thought we would give you some suggestions on where to check out while visiting the Eternal City. Cheers!!

Robin Hood's

If you can't get enough of Italy's pizza, check out Robin Hood Pub for an Italian spin on a pub in Rome. This one specializes in a vast selection of pizzas including appetizer and dessert pizza with flowers, and strawberries. Walk around the horseshoe-shaped venue for good luck. Drinks and live dj 'till closing.Open 6:30 pm - 2 am.

Shamrock Irish Pub

Steps away from the Coliseum, you'll find a traditional Irish pub with the party inside and outside. The Shamrock hosts Happy Hour until 8 pm, and live Irish music every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. Open 1 pm - 2 am.

Easy to find facing the church in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore. The staff are very friendly. This is one of our favourate pubs in Rome to go to before heading out for dinner.

Mad Jacks- Pub in Rome

If you're looking to mingle with some locals, stop by Mad Jacks Pub for a relaxed setting in the early evenings. This pub usually gets pretty crowded later in the evening. The music collection is eclectic with classic rock to Italian pop and hip-hop later in the evening. Guinness, Kilkenny and Harp are on tap, as well as a variety of mixed drinks. If you dare, try the Gladiator, an especially strong mix of vodka, gin, rum, sour mix, lemon, and even beer.

Just a sort walk from Piazza Navona, this authentic pub in Rome takes its name from the Latin word for "let's drink!" Weekdays 6 pm-2 am; Saturday, 11 am-2 am; closed Tuesdays.

Finnegan's Irish Pub

Finnegan's thinks itself as the only Irish-owned pub in Rome. It's also home of the only officially registered Celtic Supporters in Italy. With live music twice a month and live televised sports from football to rugby and even American football, Finnegan's laid back atmosphere is great for unwinding after a long week... shoot some pool, drink a pint or two... Open weekdays 1 pm -!2:30 am; Saturday-Sunday, noon - 1 am.

Morrison's offers a relaxed, but fun atmosphere with a full offering of Irish beers, mouth-watering steaks, and a wide array of music from hip-hop and R&B,to revival and classic rock. It's an Irish Pub, with a Roman soul. And while Roma Soccer games have priority, rugby and other sporting events are also broadcast. Open 11 am - 2 am

If you're near the Vatican, get the party started early at RisCafè. A peaceful place to linger over coffee in the morning, in the evening it becomes a crowded bar. The cafe's big screen shows all the games of the English Premier League. If you're feeling adventurous, try their signature drink, the "Italian Spicy," a curious mix of basil, tomato juice, vodka and ginger ale. Open 9:30 am - 2 am

Fiddler's Elbow

Out of all the pubs this was the first Irish pub in Rome, open since 1976. Tucked away in a side street near Santa Maria Maggiore, Fiddler's Elbow typically hosts a mellow crowd with live Sky broadcasts and traditional music. Open noon-2 am. www.thefiddlerselbow.com

Druid's Den

Druid's Rock- Celtic Pub In Rome

A Celtic Rock Pub hosting live music every weekend, as well as satellite news and sports. Though nearby, Druid's Rock tends to have a rowdier crowd than its sister pubs, Fiddler's Elbow and Druid's Den. Open 5 pm-2 am www.druidspubrome.com

Old Marconi's

Miscellanea Pub

This dim lit pub in Rome has been the haunt of both international and Italian students for more than 25 years, and the interiors haven't changed a bit. While you may not find Guinness here, you will find some ice cold, green beer, huge foot-long panini, salads, and antipasti. Miscellanea prides itself on its very deep respect for students, and today, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters of past patrons continue to frequent this modest, but welcoming Rome pub.

Roma Caput Mundi

If you're headed for Trastevere be sure to stop by Roma Caput Mundi for a selection of more than fifty cocktails, delicious homemade sangria, or their infamous one-liter beers. With foreign students and Romans alike in attendance, music blasting, and Guinness flowing, Roma Caput Mundi has been known to stay open as long as there's a party to be had. Open every day from 7 till late.

Scholars Irish Lounge

This American-style pub in Rome is always filled with young people. It's 100% Irish owned, so you know you will be getting your fare share of Guinness, and Kilkenny. Their whisky selection is one of the best, with over 200 labels to choose from. Surprisingly, a lot of Italians frequent the place, so it’s not that Americanized. If you are missing out on the NFL, NBA or NCAA, they have a several large screens showing the various games. During all games, pitchers of beer are only €11 euro.
